4 Tips to Improve Audience Engagement

We all think that we get too many emails, yet 86% of consumers prefer email as a business communication method. Great content doesn’t always mean that your email WILL get opened, but it helps.

Great content is only part of successful digital marketing. Frequency of posting is another. But if you’re looking to really engage your audience, you’ve got to get your readers to OPEN your blog first and foremost.

Here are four tips to improve your audience engagement:

  1. Make sure your emails are coming from a RECOGNIZABLE SENDER NAME such as your business address. If a reader doesn’t recognize your name or company, chances are your message will be regarded as spam and will never hit their inbox.
  2. Have a great SUBJECT LINE that ensures the reader will HAVE to click into your email. A great subject line can include an irresistible offer, conveys a sense of urgency, or is personalized in some way. Stay away from words such as FREE or HURRY or other action words as those often get flagged as spam.
  3. Check to see that your DESIGN delivers on your promised subject line, that it’s visually appealing and easy to read, and that it’s optimized for mobile viewing. Make sure your content contains short paragraphs, bullet points, numbered lists or block quotes instead of long, complex paragraphs. Add some appropriate images to help guide your reader through the email, and to break up paragraphs of text. And don’t forget that white space is as important as every other design detail you can include!
  4. Include a targeted, valuable CALL TO ACTION, and make sure that your reader knows how to get it. Make sure your offer is easily identifiable and that all buttons and/or links work properly.
